The road from O’Hare to Kigali was long, but relatively uneventful, despite 3 time zone changes. Departing Chicago at 6pm on Tuesday, August 2, we finally reached Kigali this morning, August 4 at 9am. Neither American nor British Air offered a movie worth watching (we both gave Water for Elephants 2 stars), which allowed us to read for a few hours (of course, Anne finished more than 300 pages while Rick struggled to clear 100), and try to sleep (which means Rick cruised through 8 hours of deep REM, while Anne struggled to rest for three). En route, we snuck in a short respite at the luxurious BA First Class Lounge at Heathrow and a quick overnight stay at the not-so-luxurious Redcourt Hotel in Nairobi.
Please join Anne, Rick, Nancy, and Dan on their excellent adventures in Rwanda and Namibia. Will Rick discover a long-lost relative? Will Anne teach downward dog to an inflexible Rhino? Will Dan sell a consumer-directed health plan (with full dental including tusks) to a herd of elephants? And, will Nancy lead a Ulysses book group for a pack of hyenas? Stay tuned to find out!
